CMS Expanded Learning Opportunities Program (ELOP)

A group of diverse children study together in a brightly lit classroom.

John Swett Unified School District is glad to announce that we will continue our successful Expanded Learning Program for the 2025-2026 school year. It is for students in 6th-8th grade. Our program will continue to provide students with a safe and positive environment during the hours after school until 5:00 pm. The program will provide dinner, snacks, homework, and enrichment. All students must participate in all activities. We are not a DAYCARE, we are a program where we want students to be safe, learn, and have fun.

The Expanded Learning Program is funded by a state grant, in turn, there is no charge for your child to participate, but the state government provides strict guidelines. There is a huge need for this program, so the attendance guidelines will be strictly enforced. Your child is expected to attend the after-school program five days a week. If your child is absent, an ABSENT form must be filled out. Your child is also expected to stay in the program daily until sign-out at 4:45pm. If you need to pick up your child early, an EARLY RELEASE form must be filled out. A bus will arrive at CMS at 4:45 to take students to RHE. Or you can pick up at CMS at 4:45.  All students must be picked up by 6:00 pm at RHE. If a parent or guardian is late, your child will be put in DAYCARE with a charge fee of $1.00 per minute. PARENT OR GUARDIAN WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING THIS FEE at the time of pick up. If this happens two times, your child may be dismissed from the program. We understand that sometimes being late is unavoidable, but please arrange for your child to be picked up on time.

Aside from attendance and pick-up, the program has a strict discipline policy. In the Expanded Learning
Program, students must treat teachers and peers respectfully. When a student has a discipline issue, a call will be
made to the parent, and the student may be sent home. If necessary, discipline issues may be turned over to the Principal for further action.

The registration form is below. Please complete it and turn it in. It will be accepted in the Rodeo Hills ELOP
office adjacent to the multi-purpose room (MPR). or at the CMS office. We will accept registration forms starting
May 27, 2025 at 8:00 a.m.

Acceptance letters will be sent home with your child via his/her classroom teacher before the end of the school year. The letter will include a more detailed explanation of the program policies and procedures. Any questions, please call (510) 799-4431 (ext.3521)
Sincerely,
Sandra Herrera-Aguayo,
Coordinator of Rodeo Hills Expanded Learning Program
